St Petersberg to Moscow - Russia

As part of a tour group travelling from St Petersberg to Moscow, we waited in the Moscow Train Station (in St Petersberg) for our overnight excursion in a sleeper compartment headed for Moscow. We waited in the middle of the train terminal until the signal came to move and then we were like a stampede rolling our bags quickly down the platform to where we thought cars eleven and twelve would stop. We didn’t wait long, and then we were struggling down the narrow corridor, wondering how we were going to get all the bags for four of us in

Third Rome - Moscow

Moscow was totally redesigned in the last 5 years thanks to their new Mayor. Downtown Moscow is awesome! Most of the historic buildings are cleaned up and they look like new. Red Square and Kremlin are beautiful. It’s just like being in the history book.

Traffic is usually pretty bad, so I don’t recommend driving. And you don’t have to. Public transportation is very well developed, especially subway. You have never seen anything like it. It’s like going to a museum! Every station has it’s own theme (like Pushkin, Space Exploration, Revolution, etc.) It’s very clean and safe. And you only have to wait a couple of minutes for a new train to come to the station.

The Motherland’s Treasures - Russia

Review Topic: Sights & Attractions

In August 2000, I visited Russia for the second time in 5 years. Previously I had visited in January of 1997. And though much has changed economically, It’s still a great place with many treasures within the cities of Moscow and St Petersburg.

Moscow itself is an overwhelming Megaopolis, magnificent in size and activity. I’ve seen both San Fransisco and New York, and they seem rather small in comparison. Below are some specifics about the city and activities within.
