I traveled to Salzburg, Austria, in late August of 1999. It was one of the greatest vacations of my entire life. Salzburg is a beautiful city filled with history. There are many things to love about Salzburg, and many things to do.
We stayed at the hotel Wolf-Dietrich. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. While it is not huge, it has a sort of old-world charm. As I said before, there are many things to do in Salzburg. You can go see Mozart’s birthplace, as well as the house he grew up in. You can travel along the Sound of Music tour, seeing sights from the musical. You can visit the large castle and museum, or just stroll through the romantic streets of the Old Town.
Salzburg truly has something for everyone and something for every taste. The restaurants are wonderful. There is one restaurant I would definitely recommend going to. I do not recall the name of the restaurant, but it was built in 803 A.D. and is the oldest restaurant in Middle Europe! It is quite impressive.
Salzburg is a fun and exciting city, yet the streets are incredibly safe. I walked around town with my aunt and my uncle at 2:00 am and felt safe. There is almost no crime. I would definitely recommend Salzburg to anyone. The ideal amount of time to spend is about 4-5 days, although one could stay in Salzburg longer and take day trips to other locations.
If you ever get the chance, visit Salzburg. It is one of the most beautiful cities on Earth.
