If you are traveling to Barcelona, take some time to get to the Costa Brava!! Just a short, easy ride up North toward France for two hours and you’ll be in delightful Costa Brava. My husband and I went for our honeymoon in early September.

The weather was perfect! The Costa Brava is where many Spaniards spend their vacations. You’ll find beaches, restaurants and old castles, mountains,Dali and more! We stayed near Bagur, in Aiguablava. The Hotel Aiguablava is famous for hosting British Tourists, but it is a great spot to be your base. Also, there were no Americans anywhere–which we liked since we are American!!It has a beach and a large fresh water pool. The food is really bad there, except for their grilled lunch. Go out to eat if you stay! The service is great though!

Take day trips from your hotel to places like Figueres (Dali museum), Girona, Cadaques. There are many small towns to explore with castles and good food! Its a good break from Barcelona. Also, there are many grounds to camp if you like a more rustic vacation. If you drive to Cadaques (where Dali lived with his wife) be prepared for a tough drive over a tricky mountain!! The curves are scary, but once you get to Cadaques, its worth it. Spend the day there, you’ll love it. Park your car right away because the roads in this town are narrow!! Have fun, drink plenty of Sangria!
